Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 September 2026

1. About this policy

BeepDash ("we", "us", "our") is a Mandooist app operated by Jason Reeve, based in Australia. This Privacy Policy explains what information the BeepDash mobile application ("the App") uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy also addresses the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where they apply.

The short version: BeepDash has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your test results and profile stay on your phone.

2. Information the App uses

2.1 Test results and profile, on your device only

The App stores your test results (the test, level reached, distance, time, estimated VO2 max and rating), any tests you build yourself, your settings, and the optional profile you enter (age, sex, weight) on your device. The profile is used only to estimate VO2 max, fitness ratings and calories.

We never receive this information. It is removed when you use Delete all results in Settings or uninstall the App. If you export a CSV or share a result, you choose where it goes.

2.2 Approximate location and weather

If you allow location access, the App reads your approximate location once at the start of a test to record the weather with your result. The coordinates are rounded to about 1 km on your device and sent to Open-Meteo to fetch the current temperature, humidity and wind. The App also asks your phone's built in service (Apple on iOS, Google on Android) for the name of the suburb or town. The App never tracks your location during a test and never uses precise or background location.

You can turn weather capture off in Settings, or deny location access, and everything else keeps working.

2.3 Your own beep sound

If you choose a sound file for the beep, the App keeps a copy on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.

2.4 Crash reports and suggestions

When the App crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry so we can fix it. A report can include your device model, operating system and App version, the error and its stack trace, and a short trail of what the App did just before, such as which screen was open. Reports do not include your name, profile, results or location, and anything that looks like an email address or coordinates is removed before sending.

If you send a feature suggestion from Settings, or add a note after a crash, that text is sent through Sentry too, including an email address only if you type one in so we can reply.

2.5 Purchases

BeepDash VIP is a one off purchase processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to confirm your purchase. RevenueCat receives a random app user identifier and the purchase receipt, not your name or payment details.

2.6 Advertising

The App shows no advertising and uses no advertising or tracking SDKs.

3. How we use information

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your privacy regulator. Because your results and profile are held only on your device, you can view, export and delete them yourself in the App. For anything held by Sentry or RevenueCat, email us.

Australia: OAIC. EU and UK: your local data protection authority. California (CCPA): we do not sell personal information.

8. Children

BeepDash includes a gentler test for young runners, meant to be run by a parent, teacher or coach. The App is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU) using it on their own, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. A note on health

VO2 max, ratings and calories are estimates from published formulas, not medical advice. A maximal shuttle run test is hard exercise: check with a doctor if you have any health concerns.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will change.
